Respite Support

Short-term care and support which is intended to provide a family or carer with a break from daily routines and stresses.

Respite Support is designed to the specific needs of individuals’ and their carers. It can be provided in the individual’s own home or in a variety of our existing accommodation services. The breaks usually do not last more than 3 months. For financial help the individual will need a community care assessment to assess their need.

There are different types of respite including: Residential, emergency, domiciliary and day centre care. All those types allow the carer to have a short break whilst knowing that the individuals’ needs are being met.

Respite support provides numerous benefits both to the carer and their loved one, including reducing stress and anxiety, improving physical and mental health, enhancing social interaction and participation, improving relationships, and reducing the risk of carer burnout. It also allows carers to take a break from their caregiving role, giving them time to focus on themselves, run errands, attend appointments or pursue hobbies.
